Open Door Counsel from Dr. Cedarholm

It looks like Dr. Cedarholm has stepped out. . . or maybe he and his wife are on another missions trip. What happened to you in his office when the door was open? Did you ask about who to marry? Did you tell him about your plans to head to the mission field? Did he tell you about a Christian school opening he thought you should look into? What happened to you in his office?

I came to MBBC as a new Christian and had tons of questions. Dr. Cedarholm would allow us to ask questions in Preacher Boys Class on any subject, which made it hard for him to get through his lectures! But I had more than could be answered in class, so I would go into his office and ask questions in private. I had such a respect for him that I would kneel down in front of his desk in stead of sit in the chair. He would always pray for me at the end of a Q&A. There must have been two worn spots in the carpet by the time I finally graduated.

Gravatar Dr. Cedarholm's memory for names is legendary. However, when I made the nerve-wracking required visit to his office just before Christmas break of my junior year (that would have been in 1982) to obtain permission to get engaged to my wife, Kelly, Doc didn't seem to remember who I was. Doc's rare lapse of memory probably worked to my advantage. I suspect he granted us permission mainly on the basis of Kelly's good reputation and judgment!
